San José 1, Dallas 1....
Every year, a Stanley Cup playoff games go to multiple overtime periods. Every year I sit through them, despite what I know it's going to do to me the next morning. Because -- let's face it -- there's nothing more exciting in sports than overtime in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I have a hard enough time turning off a game that's 8-2 in the third period in October; how am I to be expected to give up on one where every shot matters, and every save is huge? Last year I made it all the way to the end of the sixth-longest game in Stanley Cup history, where Vancouver scored 18:06 into the fourth overtime period of a game that started at 10pm according to my time zone at the time. I'm proud of this; call it perseverance, call it stubbornness, call it plain lunacy. I can't stand not knowing. I'd lie awake wondering about it anyway, so I might as well be the one at work tomorrow who knows all about it.
Here we go, period 6....
